NORAC gets a new general manager, moves the remainder of production in Arendal to Lithuania, and strengthens its administration and sales organization in Arendal. Norac takes steps to reinforce competitive ability in a challenging and demanding market.
Jan Sigurd Otterlei (54), owner and chairman of Norac, says that Norac will remain a major player in the shipping and offshore market. Increased competition in the market has necessitated a strategy to establish production facilities in Lithuania and retain administration, engineering and sales at the headquarters in Arendal.
Rune Aarrestad (49) succeeds Arne Borg, who has headed the company since 1977, as new general manager of Norac. Arne Borg (65) is about to retire and is withdrawing from his management position at Norac. He will collaborate with Rune Aarrestad for a transition period, while also heading coordination and practical matters related to the transfer of production in Arendal to Lithuania.
All production moved to Lithuania
When Norac established its fully-owned subsidiary UAB Norac in Lithuania in 2006, the business quickly grew into an efficient production company, which currently has approx. 400 employees. In Arendal, the final remaining jobs linked to production at Stoa will now be discontinued. The transfer of the remaining 15% of production from Arendal to Lithuania is the result of a strategy to strengthen the company’s competitive ability.
Marine Interior Systems
NORAC is a world-leading supplier of marine interior systems, from complete pre-fabricated cabins and wet rooms to module-based elements for floors, wallpanels and ceilings. Everything is tailored for quality-conscious shipowners and yards that build ships and installations for the offshore industry.
Norac is a major supplier to both cruise ships and the merchant fleet – and due to the high safety standards required by oil installations in the North Sea, Norac is a preferred supplier of fire-proofing and sound-reducing wallpanels, floors and ceilings.
